Surface Water Management Permit Application for Piedmont Dairy

Piedmont Dairy proposed a 1,400 cow, rotationally grazed (RG) dairy facility located on 1,925 acres in Gilchrist County, Florida.  This site is zoned for agricultural use and required a special exemption for the Gilchrist County commissioners to construct the dairy.  The proposed dairy facilities consisted of lactating cow paddocks, a dry cow/sprayfield, a milk/feed barn and lagoon system, and a solids application area.  In March 1994, SWET prepared an engineering report in support of permit applications which included the exemption from the county, a Florida Department of Environmental Protection industrial waste permit, and a Suwannee River Water Management District surface water permit
